The traditional conference on nursing care called Quality and its Perspectives organized by the Faculty of Health Studies has attracted a number of Czech as well as international experts. The following day a meeting of healthcare students took place at the Faculty called XIII. National Students’ Scientific Conference where the students presented their theses.

The fifth edition of the international conference Quality and its Perspective: Multidisciplinary Approach to Patient Care took place at the Faculty on 18 April. This year’s conference has been co-organized by the Social Medicine Institute of the Faculty of Medicine of Charles University in Hradec Kralove, Faculty of Health Care and Social Work of Trnava University in Trnava and the Faculty of Health Sciences of Ankara University.

Attendees Included Icelandic Experts

This year’s conference has been attended by international experts from Iceland, Finland, Turkey and Slovakia. A total of 39 papers and 18 posters were presented at the conference.

The morning session was opened by Dr. Martina Šochmanová, President of the Czech Association of Nurses; other speakers included Prof. Katri Vehviläinen-Julkunenfrom from Kuopia, Finland, Dr. Petr Hejzlar, Director of the Mental Health Care Association, Mgr. Lenka Gutová, Deputy Director for Nursing of the Military University Hospital in Prague, Ms. Helga Bragadóttir of the University of Island and Doc. Ladislav Hess of the Prague Institute of Clinical and Experimental Medicine. Multidisciplinary care was also discussed by Doc. Marie Trešlová of the Faculty of Health and Social Sciences of the University of South Bohemia in České Budějovice. Other speakers included Ing. Gabriela Franková of the Joint Accreditation Council, Doc. Patricia Dobríková of the Trnava University, Dr. Bohumila Baštecká of the Protestant Theological Faculty of Charles University Prague, Doc. Andrea Pokorná of the Faculty of Medicine of Masaryk University and Mgr. Iveta Nagyová of the Faculty of Medicine of Pavol Jozef Šafarik University in Košice, who closed the morning programme. 

Panel on Women and Child Care

The afternoon programme was divided into four parallel sessions each focusing on a different topic.  Each session included 6-8 papers. The main auditorium hosted a session on healthcare professional topics. The session focusing on women and child care was moderated by Prof. Katri Vehviläinen-Julkunen and doc. Andrea Pokorná. The session on patient/senior topics was moderated by Doc. Marie Trešlová and Doc. Lenka Hodačová. Another interesting session on education was moderated by Doc. Petra Mandysová and Prof. Serkan Yilmaz of the Ankara University.

The conference was closed by Doc. Jana Holá, Vice-Dean for Research and Development who thanked both the participants and organizers and invited everyone to the next year’s conference.
