Professional background:

 

Katerina Horackova was formally trained in Nursing, completing her BSc at Charles University, Hradec Kralove, Czech Republic (2005), Master of Geriatric nursing at the Masaryk University in Brno, Czech Republic (2008), Doctor of Philosophy, St Elisabeth University of Health Care and Social Work, Bratislava, Slovak Republic (2011). Currently she is PhD student in Faculty of Military Health Sciences, University of Defence Hradec Kralove, Czech Republic (since 2016). Her PhD research focused on Impact of the Holocaust on the health and life satisfaction of the survivors in its historical context.

She worked as a nurse mainly in Oncology department - Hematological department in Faculty Hospital, Hradec Kralove (2000-2002) and Complex oncology center, Pardubice (since 2008), Geriatric department (2002 – 2005) and Home care agency in Pardubice (2012-2014). She worked as a teacher in the Secondary Nursing School in Pardubice (2002 -2008). In 2010, she moved to the Faculty of Health Studies, University of Pardubice, Czech Republic where she teaches at the bachelor and master level and conducts oncology nursing and palliative care. She has also presented at nursing conferences in Europe and Asia.
