Description:
The project deals with the issue of correlation of nutrition, physical activity and self-sufficiency in high-risk patients. Nutrition and physical activity represent the basic areas of care for at-risk patients (seniors, cancer patients, critically ill patients in convalescence, and patients after overcoming the pulmonary form of Covid-19). Clinical experience shows that the fact that proper nutritional and functional assessment and subsequent targeted interventions in this area have a major impact on the overall condition of this group of patients. Based on these facts, the aim of our research will be to determine the extent to which the clinical condition of patients interferes with the functional and nutritional status measured through standardized measurement and evaluation scales. The project is planned for three years. During this period, we will expand our theoretical and practical knowledge in the field, test and evaluate tools for the diagnosis, control and treatment of malnutrition, sarcopenia and functional disorders. Clinical research will be conducted in UVN SNP Ružomberok - Hospital and other selected health and social facilities in Slovak and Czech Republic. The main output of the project will be a monograph providing a comprehensive view of the issue, which is in accordance with EBP (Evidence Based practice). The publication has the ambition to summarize the latest scientific knowledge in the field of care for patients with eating disorders and limited physical activity caused by disease or treatment. The publication will offer current information focused on nutrition and physical activity and their importance in the comprehensive care of at-risk patients. It will be intended for students, all health and social workers who care for this group of patients, as well as family members and non-professional carers.
