Evaluation of the quality of care for patients undergoing urethral instrumentation

Provider: Univerzita Pardubice
Programme: Vnitřní granty FZS
Implementation period: 01.03.24 - 28.02.26
Workplace: Fakulta zdravotnických studií - Katedra ošetřovatelství
Investigator: Ochtinská Hana
Description:
The project is divided into three phases. In the first phase, a quantitative research survey in the form of non-standardized questionnaires will be conducted. The intention is to obtain a comprehensive set of procedures in urethral instrumentation (insertion of urinary catheters and endoscopes) with a focus on the use of local anaesthetics in the surveyed urological departments (outpatient and hospital) throughout the Czech Republic. In the second phase, after obtaining the opinion of the ethics committee, a quantitative research survey in the form of non-standardized questionnaires will be conducted among patients undergoing urethral instrumentation (insertion of urinary catheters and endoscopes). The perception of negative pain sensations during urethral instrumentation (instrumentation using urethral hydrodistention and local anaesthetics versus instrumentation using urethral hydrodistention without local anaesthetics) will be compared. These procedures will be performed based on the physician's indication. In the third phase, a multivariate analysis of the information obtained will be performed to develop an optimized standard recommendation.
