eng The Benefit of Sentinel Lymph Node Biopsy for Breast cancer Women in the Czech Republic. Breast cancer is the most common women cancer and the second most common killing cancer in the Czech Republic. Incidence of breast cancer in the Czech Republic in 2004 was 99 new cases in 100 000 women and is still increasing. Forty women in 100 000 die a year due to breast cancer and mortality is in last years moreless stable. Sentinel lymph node biopsy is performed in more than 25 centres in the Czech Republic. Usually, it is used combined technique with patent blue and Tc 99 labelled radiocolloid. Histopathological examination of lymph nodes is performed by hematoxylin&eosin and immunohistochemistry. Sentinel lymph node biopsy was adopted in our institution after training of our breast surgeons in Moffitt Cancer Centre, Tampa, Florida, USA in 2001.
