What is the real awareness among nurses? 39% see no sequentiality of starvation and undernutrition 44% do not consider as causes of undernutition: loss of teeth or apetite, alcohol abuse, mechanical compression of digestive tract and a lower food intake. 48,4%: undernutrition combined with a big stress does not lead to death. 50% see no link between undernutrition and immunity, healing. 47%: no link between stress starvation and wound healing; 22% think organism adapts quickly to stress starvation. 68,8%: artificial nutrition blocks the stress catabolism; 39%: nursing care of central or peripheral cathters is the same; 61,2% have no clear image about enteral nutrition. The relatively high percentage of wrong answers to test questions show the low awareness about undernutrition, starvation and energetic metabolism.
