eng	The assessment of pain in patients before and after total knee endoprosthesis surgery	The article deals with the pain experienced by patients before and after the total knee endoprosthesis surgery. The research survey monitored patients in orthopaedics and rehabilitation wards at district and regional sized hospitals. Two scales were used to assess the intensity of pain ? a visual analogue scale and the scale of pain interference with daily activities. Comparing the results obtained from the two pain evaluation scales which were utilised, there were only minor differences between them, so we can considered both of them to be a suitable tool for pain assessment.	total endoprosthesi; knee; pain assessment; analgesics
