eng Utilization of the Emergency Department by Patients with Non-Life-Threatening Conditions – study project Introduction: The inefficient utilization of the emergency department (ED) is a highly discussed topic, which highlights challenges created within the field of public health and healthcare in the Czech Republic. This involves situations where patients seek attention from the emergency department for conditions that could be effectively treated with primary care instead. Such behaviour leads to overcrowding of the emergency department with non-life-threatening conditions, prolonged waiting times and an increase in healthcare costs. Aim: Analyse the inappropriate utilization of a selected emergency department in the Czech Republic. Method: Mix methods. The data will be collected at the emergency department of a University Hospital in the Czech Republic during 3 randomly selected days. All ED visits will be assessed for relevance. Results: The expected outcome will be 240 assessed emergency visits. This sample will assess the possibility of utilizing primary care instead of emergency department admission. Conclusion: The study will show condition of service utilization in selected department. Emergency department, general practitioner, inappropriate use, public health care, triage
