Telehealth has emerged as a pivotal tool in modern healthcare, significantly enhancing the management of chronic pain. By leveraging digital communication technologies, telehealth facilitates continuous and comprehensive care for patients, irrespective of their geographical location. Nurses play a crucial role in this paradigm, acting as primary caregivers who utilize telehealth platforms to monitor, assess, and manage patients’ pain effectively. Research aim. The aim of this scoping review is to map out the current landscape of telehealth applications in pain management, highlight the contributions of nurses in this context, and identify gaps in the literature to inform future research and practice. Methodology. A comprehensive search was conducted across the following databases: PubMed, Journals@Ovid, Ovid Emcare, Ovid MEDLINE, and the Ovid Nursing Database. The search strategy incorporated the keywords: “pain,” “digital,” “telehealth,” “questionnaire,” “patient,” “user,” “nurse,” and “nursing.” To ensure relevance and quality, the inclusion criteria were defined as follows: primary research articles published in English from 2015 to 2024. The selected studies specifically targeted nurses who: a) are involved in the development and/or delivery of telehealth services for patients experiencing pain, b) participate in evaluating telehealth interventions aimed at pain management, c) engage in managing patient pain through telehealth, or d) develop or use telehealth for educational and training purposes related to pain management for students and staff. Results. Out of 68 identified articles, 53 were excluded due to duplication or irrelevance. Among the remaining 15 articles, 9 were published within the last 5 years. Most studies (n = 8) were conducted in the USA. The predominant research design was the randomized control trial. Nurses played a crucial role in all facets of telehealth, from service development to evaluation.
