eng	Compartment Syndrome as a Potential Cause of Healing Failure in Surgery of the Neck	It is generally known that approximately 5 % of surgical procedures in the region of the neck are complicated by inflammation. Such complications are usually attributed to an associated infection, improper surgical technique, unsuitable sewing material or insufficient drainage of the wound. Complications of healing might be as well caused by the increase of the blood pressure in the capillaries in little changing volume and relatively stable parts of the human body (compartments). Signs of increased interfascial pressure, which may lead to ischemia and in severe cases necrosis and decomposition of the surrounding tissue, are known mainly in the abdominal cavity and limbs as a compartment syndrome. Conclusion: Authors suppose that possibility of measurement and monitoring of interfascial pressure in the spaces of the neck immediately after operation and during postoperative healing may be helpful in choosing optimal compression of the wound after operation and in following redressements and asses efficiency of used drainage at the same time.
