eng Translation and linguistic validation of the knowledge and attitudes survey regarding pain into Czech ABSTRACT Introduction: It has been recognized in the professional literature that an adequate level of knowledge and an appropriate attitude of nurses towards pain are important for achieving good pain control in their patients. However, there is no questionnaire in the Czech language that would assess this knowledge and attitude existing among Czech nurses. Objective: The aim was to translate the Knowledge and Attitudes Survey Regarding Pain (KASRP) into Czech. Methods: The language translation and validation process consisted of a total of 10 steps and it was based on both quantitative and qualitative methods. Results: Favourable results of the content validity index (0.9-1), modified kappa statistics (0.899-1), and professional feedback provided by eight nurses, two physicians, and one pharmacist guided the development of the final version of the Czech questionnaire (KASPR-CZ). Conclusions: The translation process was challenging because of the presence of medications in the questionnaire that are not used in the Czech Republic. The translation process itself consisted of many steps and therefore was quite demanding. However, using a less strict methodology may have led to the development of a Czech version that would not have been as rigorous. pain; knowledge; attitude; nurses; translation
