Pillars of Care in the US: Bioethics and Virtue

Workshop objectives:
The aim of the workshop is to give an overview of the four main pillars of bioethics in U.S : justice, autonomy, beneficence and non-maleficence. These pillars require an additional element of virtue to explain and explore their application in healthcare. Additionally, the essential ethics- the patient’s good and ethics of care will be discussed as applied in the U.S. Upon completion of the workshop, the participant will be able to identify the Four Pillars of Bioethics in the U.S.; the role of Virtue in applying these principles and the impact on the nurse-patient relationship and patient centered care.
